PSALM 119 Series
Meditating on the Truths of God’s Word
Part 1: Verses 1-64
Psalm 119 is the longest psalm and chapter within the Bible. It is a repetitive meditation on the glorious beauty of God’s Word and is designed to help us grow in faith. Psalm 119 is an acrostic poem carefully constructed of 22 stanzas with 8 verses each totaling 176 verses. Each stanza begins with the letter of each of the Hebrew alphabet such as Aleph, Beth, Gimel, etc. Almost every verse intentionally mentions God’s Word in the forms of instructions, laws, words, regulations, statutes, commands/commandments, decrees, or promises. The central message of Psalm 119 focuses specifically on the truths of God’s Word. It encourages us through every generation to stay close and focused on His Word no matter what we encounter throughout our lives. The Word of God is the only guide for living a pure life.
God’s Word is powerful, living, and active. It never changes because He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His words are breathed straight from His heart to us, in a form of a beautiful love letter for life. The Word of God is not an outdated book with no relevance for today, it is sharper than any two-edged sword.
